The
1995 Embassy Champion, Richie is one of Wales' greatest
ever darts players.
A former World Masters winner, his greatest moment came
with a 6-0 defeat of Raymond van Barneveld to become
World Champion.
He went close to adding further silverware when he
reached the World Matchplay final in 2001, but he lost
to Phil Taylor in Blackpool.

Lost his form in the late 1990s, but a
semi-final appearance at the World Matchplay in 2000 heralded
the Welshman's return to form.

The Matchplay format suited the
Welshman again in 2001 and he marched with some wonderful darts
into the final. Like so many before him though, he found Phil
Taylor waiting there for him and was duly condemned to a
runners-up berth.
