Player Profile - Keith Deller

Keith was born in Ipswich on Christmas eve 1959. He started to show interest in playing darts at the age of 12. By the age of 15 he was the Ipswich Champion, and at the age of 16 the Super League Champion. At the age of 17 he was County Champion and the youngest player ever to get through to "The News of the World" divisional finals.

In 1983 he made history when he won the Embassy World Championship title at Jollees, Stoke on Trent, making him the youngest world champion and to this day the only qualifier to win the title. He is also the only player to beat the top 3 players in the world on his path to the title, which were John Lowe at number 3 in the world at the qtr finals, defending champion Jocky Wilson at number 2 in the world in the semis and Eric Bristow, the number 1 in the world in the final.

Keith was nick-named "The Milky Bar Kid" and due to his world champion status was asked to appear on many TV shows, such as "Surprise Surprise" "This is your life" "Hart to Hart" with Robert Wagner and Stephanie Powers, as well as lots of personal appearances.
 
Former World Champion Keith Deller maintains a high television profile as one of the top players in the world. He held the Guinness World Record for the fastest game of 301 in 97 seconds, and in his long career he has shown his class, winning many events around the world. He regularly appears in charity events around the country and enjoys being a part of various celebrity golf tours. He is also a member of Sky Television's commentary team.

More success quickly followed with Keith winning the Diamond Masters Tournament, he became the World Cup Champion, Nations Cup Champion, and British Professional Champion, being one of three players to hold the world and British Title. and was also a World record holder. Keith has also made numerous appearances representing England.

Twenty ones years on Keith remains one of the busiest players on the exhibition circuit and is still competing in all of the televised tournaments.

Keith is married to Kim and they have 2 Children
