The Commercial Hotel
Jamestown played host to the one show only
Deller Downunder 2006 Exhibition on Saturday
Evening
The night was a roaring success with many folks
trekking in from all over the country to witness
Keith in Action. It was great to see the
townsfolk turn out and honor such a great
gentleman of our sport. They came from
everywhere. Broken Hill, Port Augusta, Adelaide,
Murray Bridge...the list goes on. The dedication
shown by all in attendance was fantastic and a
credit to everyone who was lucky enough to be at
the event.
Class is for ever - Keith Deller Jamestown South
Australia
Our Day Started with a leisurely drive north
with Keith and our
team to Jamestown. For those of you who are
wondering where Jamestown is, Jamestown is
located some 200km north of Adelaide. Jamestown
has a population of around 1500 people.
Surveyed in 1871 to service the productive and
reliable farmland
of the Northern Highlands, Jamestown is mainly a
wool town and Jamestown's monthly sheep sales
are the largest in rural South Australia.
On the board Deller Didn't Disappoint. Keith was
successful in
winning all 12 games which were played over the
best of 5 legs. Local Star and SADC player
Amanda Fish was the first game of the evening.
Amanda threw some brilliant darts and threw a
really great peg of 94 to claim a leg from
Keith, however it was Keith who claimed the Game
3 sets to 1.
Other strong performers were Craig Atze of
Murray Bridge who was
the only game of the night from the local
players to take 2 legs from
Keith. Craig threw brilliantly to bring Keith to
2-2 ,however it was Keith who secured the match
with back to back 140,s in the 5th and deciding
leg to take the match comfortable 3-2.
Another strong performance Came from Andrew
Townes of Broken
Hill who did little wrong but simply got Keith
in probably his best game of the evening
Special mention to the young boy sitting in the
front row who
became Keith's Advisor for pegs during the
evening. Keith threw at least 1 dozen peg outs
by request.. some including 62(double 16,Double
15) a 40 Checkout (double 10,Double 10) and a
number of 101 pegs with 2 darts.
So it was to the finale: Deller vs Jouannet
in the best of 11 legs.
This was a brilliant Match. China led 3 legs to
1 at 1 stage and
had a shot at 40 to take him to a 4-1 lead.
Unfortunately for Jouannet from there Deller
took control of the match with many strong legs
to take the match comfortable 6 legs to 3.There
were 3 180s, thrown in the game,2 x to Deller
and 1 x to Jouannet.
The evening ending with a great insight to the
life of a professional dart player with Keith
answering questions from the audience on his
life as a Full time player, experiences with
other players on the circuit, his views on Phil
Taylor and his thoughts on playing in the PDC.
Barry Jouannet was also invited to the
microphone giving his thoughts on playing on the
worlds biggest dart stage at the Ladbrokes.com
World Championships. Afterwards it was time for
Keith to sign some autographs before the evening
concluded
Keith and Dartplayers Australia would like to
thank everyone who
attended the evening and give special thanks to
Gary Sims, Tony Cooper, Warren and their team at
the Commercial Hotel for a truly memorable
night.
